Starting Small

Here are some images from nature that I find absolutely beautiful. It is from creatures like these, characters can emerge.

Beetles

Reptiles and Arachnids

Sea Creatures

Birds

Insects

These are images I have collected from the internet of animals and insects that inspire me. What I enjoyed most about these images were
  • The colours, patterns and metallic, oil-slick shine of the beetles. These are my favourite of all of the animals. They're naturally intricate and symmetrical prints are incredible to look at and inspiring. It is incredible to consider that these were created by nature
  • The texture of the seahorses is incredible when you look closely. Tiny bumps and ridges all over the surface of the seahorses aid their efficiency in the water and create a beautiful texture
  • The tendrils of the jellyfish are a precautionary technique to ward off predators, however they, also create a beautiful texture and movement in the water.
  • The jellyfish and some of the other fish are also translucent, which creates really interesting effects in different lights. I would like to look at materials that reflect light in different ways for the styling of this project, inspired by the fish.
  • The intricate and miniscule pattern on the dragonfly's wings is stunning and also appears to reflect light in different ways.
  • Most of the other insects and birds intrigued me by the natural patterns they possess
